Saturday 19th February - This mornings work party

The accumulating logs and debris were cleared from the area around the sluice. The wood had been carried down by the strong flow. Most of the logs cleared had been in the pond for some time (years) as they were partially rotten. Few, if any, resulted from the autumn workparties as they had been burnt or secured into log piles.

There were signs of an oily film on the surface of the water, which may be due to fuel or oil washed into the pond by the recent heavy rain. It has been reported to the EA and will be monitored to ensure that it does not become a problem.
